Hello to all CSFG members, current and future!

As some of you may have noticed, we’ve been doing some (long overdue) maintenance work on the website. These include things like updating the calendar and working to update the member directory.

As part of the latter, we’ve been putting together a system that auto-updates the list of current CSFG members, and provides a link to a profile page for opted-in members (for example, here’s mine). This is similar to how the directory used to work, way back when it was first created… only now much easier to keep updated!

How does it work?

When purchasing a membership from the CSFG’s online store, you will be prompted to create an account (or log into an existing one). That’s all you need to do to appear in the directory (at least for the next twelve months).

What if I don’t want to appear in the directory?

Simple. You can either:

  1. not create an account when you purchase membership, or
  2. edit your profile to set your display name to your user name (this will cause you to appear as “anonymous member” in the listing).

What if I really don’t want to appear?

Contact a member of the committee and request an account deletion (your purchase history will remain).

My information is wrong. How do I edit it?

By logging in and updating your profile.

I don’t want the username I originally registered to be displayed publicly. Can I change it?

Not manually, though if you email [email protected] and provide your registered email address, your current username, and your desired new username I can change it for you. (Note that this will also change the username you use to log into the site!)

I didn’t register an account when I purchased membership. Can I still be added to the directory?

So long as you purchased your membership via the CSFG site, yes. If you email [email protected] your order ID and the email address of your new account I can link them.

If you purchased membership via some other means (e.g., in person at an event)… sorry. There isn’t currently a way to add you.

When will all this go live?

In the next month or so, so get prepared now!

I have some other question that isn’t listed here…

Ask away, and I will answer what I can.
